Kitchen Aid KCDB250G 1/2 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal Review

Kitchen Aid KCDB250G
The Kitchen Aid KCDB250G Continuous Feed Garbage Disposer is a good general purpose food disposal unit that, with its 1/2 HP motor, will grind through the food waste from a normal family home. It’s not really powerful enough for large families (we’d recommend a 3/4 or 1 HP motor to cope with this load).

If you’re very particular about the design and look of your kitchen, then the KCDB250G (who, by the way, comes up with these names?) has a pretty unique feature in that it allows you to fit a color-coordinated sink flange and stopper – so if you have a white enamel sink, you can have a white flange rather than the usual black.

Inside the unit, you’ll find galvanized steel grinding wheel and a shredder that will cut through most waste effectively. To keep the noise levels low, the Kitchen Aid has polystyrene noise insulation fitted, making it one of the quieter units in operation.

Installation is very quick and simple thanks to the quick-mount system – particularly if you’re just swapping out an old Kitchen Aid with the same mount.

The electrical installation should be carried out by a qualified professional but a couple of points to note: first, this doesn’t come with a power cord (see later in this post) and second, the manufacturers recommend that you fit a time-delay fuse or circuit breaker on a separate circuit.

Notes

This Kitchen Aid unit does NOT come with a power cord! Many customers buy the InSinkErator power cord kit that works just fine with this model.
